"Walter
Mitty" Daydream Writing AssignmentAssignment:
Write a story in the style of James Thurbers The Secret Life of Walter
Mitty containing at least two distinct daydream sequences incorporated into
a frame story. The story
may be about either you (the author) daydreaming or you may continue the "Walter
Mitty" story by writing further daydreams for the story's protagonist. Grading:
The stories will be evaluated for adherence to the following criteria: The
story is engaging and entertaining, and possibly humorous, like The Secret
Life of Walter Mitty. There
are two distinct daydreams developed sufficiently to help the reader visualize
them. The daydreams
are incorporated into a frame story, but the divisions between the daydreams and
the frame story are clear. Spelling,
capitalization, grammar, and punctuation are correct. Formatting
adheres to the academic format guidelines discussed in class. Submission
of the process draft(s) and the final draft meets deadlines announced in class
and in the English 9 website.
