Life Gives Birth to Life

The DNA unfolds its secrets,
Morse code upon the x-ray film
Revealing secrets hidden in
The genes and chromosomes.

This narrow view like freeway lanes--
A cellular topography--
Yields only snapshot views
Of life's quiet secrets leaving

Still in heiroglyph the author's
Literary views. He wrote
The book, gave it life, and left
it to amuse the geneticist

Who patiently decodes the script,
Difficult to grasp but clear
In its intent. Not by chance
Can life of such complexity

Assemble living molecules
And string them in an alpha helix;
Only life gives birth to life
And works of art are made by hand.
